About the Learning Mentor Role

  • Support pupils who may have additional learning needs, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), autism, ADHD, or difficulties engaging with education.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Support emotional regulation and wellbeing.
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils to help them engage in school life.
  • Work alongside teachers and support staff to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage attendance, participation, and independence.

Training and Development

No previous school experience is required for this Learning Mentor role. If you're new to education, Vision for Education will provide FREE training, including:

  • Safeguarding and Child Protection.
  • Behaviour Management.
  • SEND Awareness.
  • Supporting Children with SEMH Needs.
  • Introduction to Working in Schools.

Following a successful interview and compliance checks, we will work to secure paid placements to help you develop your skills as a Learning Mentor.

What We're Looking For

  • Have a passion for supporting children and young people.

  • Be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check.

Experience in education, care, youth work, coaching, mentoring, support work, or similar environments is beneficial but not essential.
