Supply Teacher – Special Educational Needs - Kirklees £170 - £240 per day depending on experience, training and qualifications (pay to scale from M1 to M6). Flexible start dates with immediate opportunities - full and part time. Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are QTS and experience of working with SEND learners within a mainstream Primary, Designated Provision or Special School setting.
The Role
This role involves planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to pupils who may have experienced disruption in their education and present with a range of behavioural, emotional, and social needs. You will be responsible for creating a structured and consistent learning environment that supports both academic progress and emotional development. A key part of the role will be managing behaviour effectively, recognising triggers, and implementing de-escalation strategies to support pupils in regulating their emotions. You will need to adapt your teaching style to meet individual needs, often thinking on your feet and responding to challenging situations with a calm and measured approach. You will work closely with teaching assistants and pastoral staff to provide a holistic approach to support, acting as a positive role model and building strong, trusting relationships with pupils. Experience working with SEMH, trauma-informed practices, and behaviour support strategies is highly desirable. A patient, consistent, and resilient attitude is essential for success in this role.
