Supply Teacher – Special Educational Needs - Kirklees £170 - £240 per day depending on experience, training and qualifications (pay to scale from M1 to M6). Flexible start dates with immediate opportunities - full and part time. Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are QTS and experience of working with SEND learners within a mainstream Primary, Designated Provision or Special School setting.
The Role
We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND Teacher to work within a specialist provision supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role involves planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils with a range of additional needs, including communication difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and social, emotional and mental health needs. You will be responsible for creating a structured and supportive learning environment, using a range of strategies such as visual supports, adapted resources, and personalised learning plans to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum. Working closely with teaching assistants and other professionals, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ academic progress, as well as their social development and emotional wellbeing. A strong understanding of ASD, alongside a patient, consistent, and nurturing approach, is essential. Experience with EHCPs, behaviour support strategies, and alternative communication methods (such as PECS or Makaton) would be highly beneficial.
