About the Role
Vision for Education is working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Colchester to appoint a 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant. The role involves providing dedicated support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs, helping them to access learning and develop socially and emotionally in a positive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties).
- Support learning, engagement, and emotional regulation throughout the school day.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff.
- Implement agreed strategies to promote independence and positive behaviour.
- Support with classroom routines, transitions, and inclusion.
- Maintain safeguarding and child protection standards at all times.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, nursery, or care setting).
- A calm, nurturing, and proactive approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
