A specialist setting, created to provide a safe and calm space for children unable to cope within a mainstream school, is seeking an English Teacher and Humanities Teacher for Key Stage 2-4 children for the start of the new academic year. The successful candidate will have a relaxed yet professional teaching style, and be able to build rapport and respect with children who have often arrived from traumatic backgrounds. The Teacher must be able to regulate emotional behaviour with resilience and consistency, and provide both educational and pastoral care to some very vulnerable children. Learners who attend here are aged between 6-18 years, and teaching is on a 1:1 basis. Classrooms are well resourced with designated spaces for independent study and reflection, and a rich and engaging curriculum awaits its learners.

Part of the role may involve taking key children out into the community; therefore, a confident driver would be desirable but not essential. Working hours are 08:30-16:30.

Requirements

  • A fully enhanced DBS registered to the update service, along with 2 professional references.
  • QTS or substantial experience teaching in UK schools.
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant Certificate.
