About the Role

Vision for Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Outreach Learning Support Assistant to provide personalised educational and pastoral support to students across Colchester and the surrounding areas who are unable to access mainstream education settings. Working on a one-to-one basis, you will support learners in community venues, alternative provisions, and home environments, helping them to engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored one-to-one learning support in line with individual education plans.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with students, families, schools, and external agencies.
  • Support students with academic work, social development, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in learning.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs and abilities of each student.
  • Monitor and record student progress, attendance, and engagement.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour at all times.
  • Liaise regularly with schools, teachers, and other professionals to ensure effective support and communication.
  • Travel throughout Colchester and the surrounding areas to provide outreach support as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, SEND, alternative provision, or support settings.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to supporting learners.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Business-use motor insurance is essential, as travel forms a key part of the role.
  • Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
