Teaching Assistant with ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) training to join a specialist SEN school in South Bristol, supporting primary‑aged pupils with

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) .

This is a full‑time role starting on a supply basis through Vision for Education and is highly likely to become a permanent position for the right candidate , making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long‑term career in specialist education.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will

  • Support primary‑aged pupils with ASC on a one‑to‑one basis and in small groups.
  • Use your ELSA training to support pupils' emotional wellbeing, resilience and social development.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and differentiated learning activities.
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and independence.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and the wider SEN team to provide the best outcomes for pupils.

Requirements

To be considered for the role, you will

  • Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Hold a recognised ELSA qualification.
  • Have experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition or other additional needs (desirable).
  • Be patient, empathetic and resilient.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
