Vision for Education are seeking an experienced School Support Assistant to support within a SEND Primary School, located in North Birmingham.
About the Role
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and additional support staff to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports both academic progress and the personal development of all pupils.
- Provide consistent, targeted support to help meet each child’s individual needs, recognising their strengths and areas for development.
- Adapt approaches and resources where necessary to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
- Support pupils with communication needs by using appropriate strategies such as visual aids, alternative communication systems, or simplified language.
- Assist with sensory regulation by identifying triggers and implementing calming techniques or structured routines.
- Provide personal care support with dignity and respect, ensuring pupils always feel safe.

The school is a primary setting, located in North Birmingham, which is easily accessible by public transport. A primary school which provides personalised specialised education, catering for pupils with severe learning difficulties and PMLD.
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.
- Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools are desired but not essential.
- Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students.
- Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
