Vision for Education are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work in an SEND School in Birmingham.

About the Role

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and additional support staff to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports both academic progress and the personal development of all pupils.
  • Provide consistent, targeted support to help meet each child’s individual needs, recognising their strengths and areas for development.
  • Adapt approaches and resources where necessary to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
  • Support pupils with communication needs by using appropriate strategies such as visual aids, alternative communication systems, or simplified language.
  • Assist with sensory regulation by identifying triggers and implementing calming techniques or structured routines.
  • Provide personal care support with dignity and respect, ensuring pupils always feel safe.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.
  • Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools are desired but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students.
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
