We are recruiting an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a secondary-aged pupil with additional needs in a welcoming secondary school in Bath. This temporary role is typically linked to a specific pupil and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on their academic progress, communication, and emotional wellbeing. You will be part of an inclusive and forward-thinking school community that values high expectations, teamwork, and student wellbeing.
Working closely with subject teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals, you will deliver targeted support across 1:1, small group, and in-class settings, helping pupils access the secondary curriculum and develop independence.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience supporting pupils with special educational needs, ideally within a secondary or specialist setting
- Understand a range of SEND, including communication and interaction needs, SEMH, or learning difficulties
- Be confident supporting students across different subjects and adapting strategies accordingly
- Be resilient, proactive, and calm in challenging situations
- Build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Be organised, patient, and student-centred
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a wider pastoral and SEND team
Role requirements:
- Term-time only, including INSET days
- Temporary position linked to pupil funding
- Start date: ASAP
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
