Y1/2 Teacher – Part Time – September 2026

DL12 Area (Barnard Castle) – £121 to £149 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Vision for Education is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Y1/2 Teacher to join our successful supply team and work within a welcoming primary school in the DL12 Barnard Castle area.

This is a part-time role, working part of the week during school hours. The successful candidate will take responsibility for a mixed Y1/2 class, delivering engaging and creative lessons that support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.

The role will commence in September 2026 and is ongoing, with the potential to become long-term depending on the needs of the school.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications.

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position is Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Previous experience teaching within KS1, particularly Year 1 and Year 2, would be advantageous.

The Role

Working as part of a supportive and experienced teaching team, the desired Y1/2 Teacher will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality learning opportunities for pupils.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Creating a positive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Assessing, recording, and reporting on pupil progress.
  • Differentiating learning activities to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively and promoting high expectations.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies where required.
  • Supporting pupils' personal, social, and emotional development.
  • Developing pupils’ confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school community.

Requirements

To be considered for the Y1/2 Teacher position, you will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have experience teaching within a primary school setting.
  • Have a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum.
  • Be confident in planning, delivering, and assessing lessons.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Have high expectations of pupils' achievement and progress.
  • Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Have a genuine passion for teaching and learning.
