About the School and Role
An Alternative Provision school situated in Blandford Forum is currently seeking dedicated Behaviour Support Assistants to join their team. The school provides education for secondary-aged pupils who face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, including those exhibiting challenging behaviours.

This Behaviour Support Assistant role offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive impact on young people\’s lives. You will play an essential part in supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them access education and develop socially and emotionally. Your responsibilities will include providing tailored support both within the classroom setting and through targeted social and emotional guidance, fostering a safe and encouraging environment for learners to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Support students with SEMH and challenging behaviour to access the curriculum effectively
Provide behavioural support and positive reinforcement strategies
Assist in developing social and emotional resilience among pupils
Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to implement behaviour management plans
Create a supportive environment that promotes student engagement, well-being, and progress
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:

Experience working with primary and/or secondary school-aged children
Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or challenging behaviours
A genuine passion for supporting pupils\’ personal and academic development
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a supportive staff team
While experience in managing challenging behaviour and supporting pupils with SEMH is preferred, candidates from backgrounds in youth work, care, mental health support, sports coaching, or similar roles involving working with young people are also encouraged to apply. Training and ongoing support will be provided to ensure you are well-prepared for the role.
