Vision for Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive primary school in Blackpool, Lancashire from September 2026. This rewarding role is for the full 2026/27 academic year, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position in 2027 for the right candidate.

The Role

This position will involve supporting learning within a Year 1 classroom, working closely with the class teacher to help pupils achieve their full potential in a positive and engaging learning environment. As a Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality phonics interventions using the Read Write Inc. programme, supporting pupils as they develop their early reading and writing skills. You will also provide additional support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping to promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and successful participation in classroom activities.

The successful Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant will:

  • Support teaching and learning within a Year 1 classroom.
  • Deliver Read Write Inc. phonics sessions confidently and effectively.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to raise attainment in phonics and literacy.
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs using positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Help create an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.

Previous phonics experience is essential for this role, and prior Read Write Inc. training and experience are highly desirable.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children within a primary school setting.
  • Have previous phonics experience, with Read Write Inc. training and delivery highly desirable.
  • Have experience supporting or working with pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Be patient, adaptable and committed to helping every child succeed.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
