Vision for Education are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Blackburn to recruit an SEND Teaching Assistant. This rewarding role is due to start in September 2026 and will continue for the 2026/27 academic year, with the potential for a permanent position in 2027 for the right candidate.

As an SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting pupils within an Early Years setting on a 1:1 basis. This role will involve working closely with children who have additional needs, including non-verbal pupils with autism and speech and language difficulties.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEND in Key Stage 1
  • Supporting non-verbal pupils, including those with autism and speech, language and communication needs
  • Assisting with the delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions
  • Promoting engagement, independence and emotional wellbeing
  • Working collaboratively with class teachers and the wider SEND team

This position would suit a patient, nurturing and adaptable individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs.
