The Role

Vision for Education are seeking an experienced and compassionate Team Teach Teaching Assistant to work full time within SEND schools in South Shields. This role is ideal for someone who has a Team Teach (or equivalent positive handling) qualification and experience supporting young people with social, emotional, and behavioural needs (SEMH).

You will play a vital role in helping students manage their behaviour, build positive relationships, and re-engage with learning. Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies, you’ll support targeted interventions and promote emotional resilience among pupils at risk of exclusion or disengagement.

Requirements

To be successful as a Team Teach Teaching Assistant, you will need:

A valid Team Teach qualification (essential) or equivalent positive handling training.

Proven experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs.

A strong understanding of behaviour management, de-escalation techniques, and safeguarding practices.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both young people and professionals.

A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting learners.

Experience working within SEND, alternative provision, or youth support settings is highly desirable.
