We are recruiting a committed Level SEN Teaching Assistant to join a SEND school in Sunderland. This is a full-time, long-term position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
You will be supporting secondary-aged pupils (Key Stages 3 and 4) with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, all of whom have an EHCP. Classes are small, allowing you to build strong, consistent relationships and provide meaningful, targeted support.
This role will involve working on a 1:1 basis with individual pupils across the full curriculum, supporting engagement in learning, managing behaviour, and promoting emotional regulation. Many students have experienced barriers to learning or previous disengagement from education. The school’s ethos focuses on restoring confidence, building trust, and developing emotional regulation, independence, and pro-social behaviour, helping pupils prepare positively for adulthood and the workplace.
You will work as part of an experienced, supportive team in a structured and nurturing environment where staff wellbeing and collaboration are highly valued.
