Are you an experienced Youth Worker, Support Worker, Behaviour Mentor or Teaching Assistant looking for a new role working with children and young people? Do you have a background in youth work, care, sports coaching, mentoring or supporting young people with additional needs?

Vision for Education are recruiting Youth Workers Within Schools to work across primary, secondary and specialist settings in Cinderford and the surrounding area. This role is suited to people who are confident working with young people and want to use their existing skills within an education setting.

As a Youth Worker Within Schools, you will support pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping them engage with learning, manage behaviour and develop their confidence and independence.

The Role

Depending on the school and pupils you are supporting, your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils
  • Supporting children and young people with SEND, SEN, SEMH and additional learning needs
  • Helping pupils manage behaviour, emotions and social situations
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting engagement with lessons and classroom activities
  • Encouraging confidence, resilience and independence
  • Working alongside teachers, Teaching Assistants, SEN staff and pastoral teams
  • Providing mentoring and pastoral support where needed
  • Helping pupils who may have autism, ADHD, communication difficulties or challenging behaviour

The role can suit candidates from a range of backgrounds, including Youth Work, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN TA, Behaviour Mentor, Support Worker, Care Worker, Sports Coaching, Childcare and Community Work.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people
  • Is confident managing challenging behaviour and difficult situations
  • Is patient, approachable and able to build strong relationships
  • Has good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Can work effectively as part of a school team
  • Has experience supporting SEND, SEMH or behavioural needs (desirable but not essential)
  • Is reliable, adaptable and committed to safeguarding
  • Can provide suitable references
  • Holds, or is willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS
  • Has the Right to Work in the UK
