A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Sudbury is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a full-time position running until the end of the academic year.

About the role

As a Year 3 SEND TA, you will provide both in-class and targeted support to pupils who require additional assistance with their learning and development. You will work alongside the class teacher and wider support team, helping to implement appropriate strategies and ensuring pupils are able to participate fully in school life.

The role may involve supporting children with a range of SEND needs, so the school is looking for someone who is patient, adaptable and confident in responding to individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Support pupils to access the Year 3 curriculum and classroom activities.
  • Help develop children's confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Follow individual learning and support strategies where required.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team.
  • Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Monitor pupil engagement and progress and communicate observations to staff.
  • Adapt activities and resources to make learning accessible.
  • Encourage pupils to participate fully in classroom and wider school activities.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEND Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND.
  • Experience working within a primary school environment.
  • Confidence working on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
