The School and Role
We are working with a multi-academy trust school in Southend-on-Sea who are seeking confident English graduates to work as Trainee English Teachers. This position is a permanent role, to start in September 2025 and will put you on a teacher training programme to get you on track to achieve QTS by 2026.
As a Trainee English Teacher, you will be responsible for leading lessons of approximately 30 pupils in the absence of the class teacher. Based on your subject specialism, you will be supporting students in the absence of the teacher. Trainee English Teachers will be responsible for teaching students at KS3 and KS4. Successful Trainee English Teachers are adaptable, hardworking, motivated, confident and organised; they have a passion for education and supporting young people.
This role provides a great opportunity to gain experience of working within a Secondary school prior to applying to Initial Teacher Training. Although previous experience of working in a Secondary School is desirable, it is not essential. Trainee English Teachers at this school have been given additional support and training to help them become fully qualified teachers after 1 year of teaching.

Requirements
- Have obtained a bachelor’s degree in an English Language or English Literature in the UK Curriculum or equivalent education.
- Be a natural leader and someone with the confidence to lead a lesson in the absence of the class teacher.
- Be passionate about education and providing the highest possible level of support to young people.
- Have an ambition of becoming a qualified Teacher in 2025/2026.
