Teaching Assistant - Stoke-on-Trent

£14.24 to £16.15 an hour · Paid every Friday · Term time, school hours

Have a look at what you are on an hour at the minute. Then look at that again.

And you get paid for the hours you actually work. Not spread thin over twelve months. Not pro rata'd down to something that looks nothing like your hourly rate.

You do a day, you get paid for a day, and it is in your account on Friday.

No displays. No after-school club. No planning at home. You are in for the children and out at half three.

I cover primary schools right across Stoke. Tunstall, Burslem, Hanley, Fenton, Longton, Meir, Blurton and Bentilee. Reception, infants and juniors.

What you get

  • £14.24 to £16.15 an hour, so £92.56 to £110 a day

  • Paid every Friday. Not monthly, not in arrears

  • Term time and school hours. Home for the school run, off in the holidays

  • You pick your days. One a week, three, or full time. Say no whenever you need to

  • Schools inside ST1 to ST6. A short drive, and schools you get to know properly

  • Day to day cover, the same regular days at one school, or a long-term placement if you would rather settle in one place

  • Free training, paid for. Including your Level 3, Level 4 or HLTA if you want to go further

SEN experience is a real bonus

And you have probably got more of it than you think.

If you have sat with one child all day, you have done it. If you have been the one they always put with the child who struggles, you have done it.

Autism, behaviour, speech and language, physical needs, a child with an EHCP or still waiting on one. It counts whether or not anybody ever gave you the job title, the training or the pay for it.

Put it on your application even if it feels like it does not count. It pays better, and there is more of it about at the minute than anything else.

And if you have not got any, apply anyway. I book general classroom TAs every single week.

What you need

  • Some experience with children in a school, nursery or pre‑school. That is genuinely it

  • A DBS on the update service, or to be happy getting one. I will sort that with you

  • No degree, no qualification and no teaching experience required

Applying takes about a minute

You do not need a CV.

I ring back the same day.

And you are not applying for one job here, you are getting on my list, so if this week does not suit, the next one might.

Straight with you

You will hear the year group, the school and exactly what you are walking into before you say yes, not after.

If a school is hard work you will hear it from me first. You will not get rung at ten past eight for somewhere forty minutes away, and you will not be left waiting on a call that never comes.

One person looking after you, who knows these schools and picks the phone up at seven in the morning when something changes.
