Y5 Teaching Assistant - Part Time - September 2026 Thornaby TS17 - £222 per week (based on 2.5 days per week) Vision for Education is looking to appoint a part-time Teaching Assistant to join our successful supply team and work within a welcoming primary school in the Thornaby TS17 area.

This is a part-time role , working 2.5 days per week during school hours .

The successful candidate will provide general classroom support within a Year 5 class , working closely with the class teacher to support pupils' learning, development, and wellbeing.

The role will commence in September 2026 and is ongoing, with the potential to become long-term depending on the needs of the school.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications.

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position is a Level 3 qualification or above in Teaching and Supporting Learning .

Previous experience supporting pupils within Key Stage 2 is desirable.

The Role Working as part of a supportive and enthusiastic teaching team, the desired Teaching Assistant will provide high-quality support within a Y5 classroom .

Responsibilities may include: Supporting pupils during whole-class learning activities.

Working with small groups to reinforce learning and promote progress.

Providing targeted support to individual pupils where required.

Assisting the class teacher with the preparation of resources and classroom activities.

Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.

Supporting pupils in developing key literacy, numeracy, and social skills.

Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
