Position: Sixth Form Support Officer
Location: Redbridge
Salary: £27,202 - £29,202 per annum
Smart Teachers are recruiting for a dedicated Sixth Form Pastoral & Academic Mentor to join a highly successful secondary school in East London.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced education professional, graduate, mentor or pastoral support specialist to play a key role in supporting sixth form students to develop effective study habits, improve organisation skills and achieve their academic and personal goals.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Sixth Form leadership team, providing daily support to students within the study centre environment and helping to maintain a focused, positive and ambitious culture.
About the Role
- Supervise and manage a dedicated sixth form study environment, ensuring students remain focused and engaged with independent study.
- Support students in developing effective revision strategies, organisation skills and independent learning habits.
- Provide pastoral guidance and mentoring to students, helping them overcome barriers to success.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, behaviour and engagement, escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
- Support sixth form events, enrichment activities and wider student development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records relating to student progress, conduct and engagement.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young people, ideally within a school, college or educational setting.
- Has a strong understanding of the needs of post-16 students.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can build positive relationships while maintaining high expectations of student behaviour.
- Is organised, proactive and able to work independently.
- Has experience in mentoring, pastoral support, tutoring, learning support or student wellbeing.
- Is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential.
