SEN Teaching Assistant - Stoke-on-Trent
£462.80-£550 a week full time (£92.56-£110 a day) | Weekly Pay | School Hours Only
Some children need one steady adult in their corner to get through the school day. Could that be you?
Primary schools across Stoke-on-Trent are asking us for SEN and one-to-one Teaching Assistants. They want people who can build trust, keep calm when a day goes wrong, and help a child learn, communicate and feel safe in class.
An SEN qualification isn't essential. If you've supported children or young people with additional needs in a school, care, childcare or another setting, we want to talk to you.
What the Work Looks Like
- One-to-one or small-group support, from Reception to Year 6
- Supporting children with autism, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs
- Helping pupils settle, regulate, communicate and join in with learning
- Working with the class teacher and SENCO, following each child's support plan
- On longer placements, getting to know one child and team over weeks or months
Where People Come From
- Teaching Assistants with one-to-one or SEN experience
- Support workers and carers who want school hours
- Nursery and childcare practitioners with additional-needs experience
- Psychology, education or SEN graduates who want hands-on classroom experience
Pay and What Comes With It
- £462.80-£550 a week for a full-time five-day week (£92.56-£110 a day, depending on experience, qualifications and the role), with part-time and flexible days paid for the days you work
- Weekly pay through PAYE
- School hours, typically around 8:30am-3:30pm, with no evenings or weekends
- Day-to-day and long-term bookings
- Guaranteed pay scheme (subject to criteria)
- Pension contributions after a qualifying period
- Full AWR (Agency Workers Regulations) compliance
- Free training, including safeguarding
- Refer-a-friend bonus
- A dedicated consultant who knows the schools
Why Consistency Matters
A lot of SEN work starts as a few days and becomes a long-term placement once the school sees it working.
We'll share everything we know about the child's needs and the role before you accept, and you choose full time, part time or flexible days.
You'll Need
- Experience supporting children or young people, ideally with additional needs
- Patience, reliability and a calm approach
- Confidence working alongside teachers and support staff
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to get one
- The right to work in the UK
