Position:Respite and Reintegration Teaching Assistant

Salary: £22,123 - £22,439 per annum

Smart Teachers is working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Outer London seeking to appoint a dedicated Respite and Reintegration Teaching Assistant to join its SEND and pastoral team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning. The successful candidate will lead the school's Respite and Reintegration provision while also working as a Teaching Assistant, helping students successfully reintegrate into mainstream education and achieve positive outcomes. The role would also suit graduates considering a future career in teaching or educational support
The Role
As a Respite and Reintegration Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the school's Respite and Reintegration provision.
- Support students returning from internal exclusion through mentoring and personalised intervention programmes.
- Deliver pastoral support and promote positive behaviour, attendance and engagement.
- Work closely with Heads of Year, SEND staff, senior leaders and external agencies to support student progress.
- Maintain accurate student records and contribute to monitoring outcomes.
- Support students within mainstream lessons, small group interventions and specialist SEND provision.
- Help teachers adapt learning and encourage students to develop confidence, independence and resilience.
- Build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues to support successful reintegration.

- Have experience working with young people, particularly those with SEND, autism or additional learning needs (desirable).

- Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and pastoral skills.
