Vision for Education are seeking Trainee School Cover Supervisors to join our successful supply teaching team and work within our partnership local secondary schools across Preston and surrounding areas.
What is a Cover Supervisor? As a Cover Supervisor, you will be expected to supervise pupils in the absence of a teacher, managing the class and ensuring that pupils remain on task with pre-set work. You will cover classes across the full range of secondary school subjects, but don't worry, you are not expected to be a subject specialist in each area. The lesson will always be planned and provided in advance.
The key aspects of the Cover Supervisor role are:
- Facilitate the classes' learning
- Manage behaviour issues
- Record accurate registers
- Provide handover notes to the absent teacher
This role provides a great opportunity to gain experience of working within a Secondary school prior to applying to Initial Teacher Training. Although previous experience of working in a Secondary School is desirable it is not essential.
Training: Vision for Education has created a bespoke FREE OF CHARGE Cover Supervisor training programme designed in collaboration with the North East Partnership Teacher Training provision. Our training programme consists of some online courses and a half-day, in‑house training session, covering all aspects of the role including what to expect day‑to‑day and next steps. Following the session, our team will continue to support you once working within schools, continuing to offer a variety of CPD courses and inclusive support from our experienced and friendly team.
