Are you passionate about working with children or young people with additional needs? We are currently looking for trainee teaching assistants to work within Primary schools in the Peterborough area. The role involves supporting children with additional needs on a small group or 1-1 basis. You will assist children in accessing the work set by the class teacher, often outside of the classroom, breaking tasks down to make them feel more achievable. These children may struggle with emotional regulation and require an adult who is calm, reassuring, and can help the child feel settled, safe and motivated. The successful candidate will have a positive mindset and be flexible and reliable to help ensure consistency for the pupils.

This is a unique opportunity for anyone looking to get into working in schools, particularly within SEND. You will undertake additional training courses within SEND, such as Behaviour Management and Special Needs Awareness to help give you the background knowledge and head start that is needed.

You will be working from 8:30-15:30, Monday-Friday during term time. This is a full-time position.

To be considered for the role of Unqualified Teaching Assistant you will need:

  • To be available for full-time work
  • To have some experience of working with children
  • To be able to drive and/or have access to a car (this school is not accessible by public transport)
  • To be able to provide two references to support your recent employment
  • To be able to provide full DBS clearance
  • To hold GCSEs passes (Grade C/ Level 4) in Maths and English or equivalent
  • To have a good rapport with children and be able to engage them in learning
  • To have high expectations for pupils' work and behaviour
  • To have a genuine desire and passion to work with pupils with additional needs

Please do not apply for this role if you do not meet the criteria listed above.
