Vision for Education are currently working alongside a Specialist SEN School in Penarth, who are looking to assign a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a variety of additional learning needs (ALN) in September.

The school caters for pupils aged 3-19 with complex physical and sensory impairments. It will be your role to support pupils to access a highly bespoke and tailored curriculum. You must have experience of supporting young people or adults with physical disabilities and/or additional needs. Aspects of personal care could be involved in the role, so you would need to be comfortable providing personal care to pupils in school.

You would need to have a holistic and person-centred approach and the flexibility to address and respond to social, emotional and personal needs. The ability to differentiate and adapt learning resources to meet individual pupil needs would be essential.

The following qualifications or knowledge of the following will be highly desirable, but not essential

  • Picture Exchange Communication (PECS)
  • Makaton or BSL (to any level)
  • Autism Awareness/ASC Training
  • Team Teach / MAPA
  • Buccal midazolam training
  • Hydrotherapy and physio training
  • Rebound therapy
  • Peg & Tube Feeding
