The School and Role
A DT technician in this busy secondary school setting supports the smooth running of the Design Technology department, helping to create a safe, well-organised environment where every learner can succeed. The role involves preparing materials and equipment for lessons, maintaining tools and machinery to a high safety standard, and providing practical support to teachers during practical sessions. Working closely with the DT team, the technician assists with resource management, helps set up demonstrations, and ensures workshops and classrooms are ready for each lesson. The focus is on safety, organisation, and supporting students to get the most out of their practical learning.
Requirements
- Experience working in a school or workshop environment
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to DT workshops (e.g. use of tools, machinery, and materials)
- A passion for supporting the progress of school pupils
- An ability to work as part of a team
