Are you an experienced Design & Technology or Engineering Technician looking for a rewarding role where you can inspire the next generation of engineers? We are seeking a practical, enthusiastic and organised DT / Engineering Technician to support the development of an exciting engineering programme centred around the Greenpower electric race car project. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in engineering, manufacturing, fabrication or workshop environments who enjoys working with young people.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the school's engineering workshop and supporting staff and students with practical engineering activities. A key part of the role will involve coordinating the construction of Greenpower race cars while ensuring all workshop equipment is safe, maintained and ready for use.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting DT, Engineering and STEM practical lessons.
- Maintaining workshop machinery, tools and engineering equipment.
- Assisting with the construction and development of Greenpower electric race cars.
- Ordering materials, tools and workshop consumables.
- Supporting students with machining, fabrication and engineering projects.
- Ensuring high standards of workshop organisation, health & safety and risk assessments.
- Maintaining equipment servicing records and stock control.
- Working alongside teaching staff to deliver engaging practical learning experiences.
We're Looking For
Applications are welcomed from candidates with experience as:
- DT Technician
- Engineering Technician
- Workshop Technician

- CNC Operator or CNC Technician
- Mechanical Technician
- Fabrication Technician
- Product Design Technician
- Prototype Technician
- Engineering Graduate or Apprentice with workshop experience
You should ideally have experience with some of the following:
- Workshop machinery and power tools
- CNC machinery
- Welding equipment
- Engineering manufacturing processes
- Mechanical assembly
- Workshop Health & Safety
- Stock and equipment management
A relevant qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Design Technology or a related discipline (Level 2/HNC/BTEC/NVQ or above) is desirable.
