Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and wants to make a meaningful difference in a nurturing educational environment.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support pupils across the curriculum, helping them to access learning and achieve their full potential.
You will provide tailored support to individuals and small groups, encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement in lessons.
Key responsibilities include
- Supporting pupils with SEND in the classroom and during learning activities.
- Assisting teachers with the planning, preparation and delivery of learning.
- Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing.
- Supporting pupils' communication, social and emotional development.
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
- Helping to create an inclusive, safe and stimulating learning environment.
- Supervising pupils during breaktimes, educational visits and other school activities as required.
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SEND professionals and parents where appropriate.
About You
The ideal candidate will
- Have previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar education support role.
- Have a good understanding of SEND and inclusive classroom practice.
- Be patient, empathetic and committed to helping pupils succeed.
- Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Be flexible, proactive and able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths. An NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) is desirable.
