SEND Teaching Assistant - Lancaster, Lancashire

Vision for Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive mainstream secondary school in Lancaster, Lancashire to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. This SEND Teaching Assistant role in Lancaster is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with the school's SEND team, teaching staff and wider pastoral team to provide targeted support to pupils with a range of additional needs.

The Role

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant in Lancaster will provide support to pupils across the secondary school, helping them to access the curriculum, develop their confidence and independence, and overcome barriers to learning.

You will work closely with the school's SEND team and class teachers to implement individualised support strategies and ensure pupils receive the appropriate support both academically and socially.

The role may involve supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis, depending on their individual needs. Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH or other additional needs, would be highly desirable.

The ideal SEND Teaching Assistant in Lancaster will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Be patient, nurturing and adaptable in their approach
  • Be confident working on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Be able to work effectively alongside teachers and the school's SEND team
  • Be committed to helping young people achieve their full potential both academically and socially
  • Have a positive and consistent approach to supporting behaviour and engagement
