Vision for Education is seeking a caring, resilient and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Lancaster, Lancashire from November 2026. This rewarding Primary Teaching Assistant role in Lancaster, Lancashire will involve providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with SEND and SEMH needs and is expected to continue for the remainder of the academic year, with the potential for longer-term opportunities for the right candidate.
The Role
This Primary Teaching Assistant position in Lancaster, Lancashire will involve supporting a Year 6 pupil on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day, helping them to access learning, regulate emotions and engage positively within the classroom environment.
Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider support team, the successful Primary Teaching Assistant will:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Support the pupil to access learning activities and achieve their individual targets.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship to encourage engagement, confidence and independence.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and promote emotional regulation.
- Support the pupil during transitions, lessons and less structured times of the school day.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and parents to ensure consistency of support.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
- Create a safe, nurturing and positive learning environment.
