Studying Psychology and considering a career working with children?

If you're a Psychology graduate or currently studying Psychology at university and are interested in developing a career in education, SEND or child development, this could be the perfect opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a school setting.

Vision for Education is looking for compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to support specialist primary and secondary schools across Hereford from November 2026.

As a leading education recruitment agency, we provide staff to SEND schools on a day-to-day basis. You'll initially join our supply register, giving you the flexibility to work around your studies or other commitments, with regular opportunities to move into long-term, part-time or full-time school placements.

The Role

You'll support children aged 2-19with a range of additional and complex needs, including:

  • Autism (ASC)
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Complex physical and sensory needs
  • Speech, language and communication needs
  • Social, emotional and behavioural needs

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
  • Encouraging learning, communication and independence
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Using your understanding of child development and behaviour to build positive relationships
  • Supporting sensory, communication and therapeutic activities

  • Graduates considering careers in teaching, SEND, educational psychology, counselling or child development
  • Candidates with previous experience working with children or young people

Previous experience working in a school isn't essential. What's most important is that you're compassionate, patient, reliable and genuinely interested in understanding and supporting children with additional needs.
