Smart Teachers is pleased to be working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in East London to recruit an ambitious and inspiring Head of Business and Economics from January 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or current middle leader to lead a successful department and drive outstanding outcomes across Business Studies and Economics.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Lead and manage the Business and Economics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Inspire and motivate students to achieve excellent academic outcomes at Key Stages 4 and 5.
- Develop and implement an engaging, ambitious curriculum that supports excellent progress.
- Lead on curriculum planning, assessment and quality assurance within the department.
- Coach, mentor and support colleagues, promoting continuous professional development.
- Contribute to the wider leadership of the school and play an active role in school improvement.

The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A degree in Business, Economics or a related subject.
- Experience teaching Business Studies and/or Economics to Key Stage 5.
- A proven track record of securing strong student outcomes.
- Previous leadership experience or the ambition and capability to step into a middle leadership role.
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
- A commitment to high expectations, inclusion and continuous improvement.
