Working closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and the wider inclusion team, the successful Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant will:
- Deliver targeted intervention sessions in literacy, numeracy and other curriculum areas across Key Stage 2.
- Support pupils with SEMH, SEND and additional learning needs to access the curriculum successfully.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence, resilience and engagement.
- Use effective behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation and positive learning behaviours.
- Adapt activities and resources to meet the individual needs of pupils.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents and external professionals where appropriate.
This Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant role in Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire would suit someone with previous experience supporting children with SEMH, SEND or additional learning needs, although transferable experience from care, youth work or mentoring will also be considered.
