This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and inclusive college where you’ll play a key role in helping learners achieve their GCSE English qualification alongside their vocational studies.

The college has a strong reputation for supporting both students and staff, creating a positive environment where learners are encouraged to succeed and teachers are valued as part of a collaborative team.

This role is offered on a fixed‑term basis in the first instance, with the potential to become a permanent position for the successful candidate.

Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs), as well as those with experience teaching English in either secondary or further education settings.

The Role

  • Deliver engaging and accessible GCSE English lessons to learners studying a range of vocational courses.
  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of learners with varying abilities and confidence levels.
  • Motivate and inspire students to develop their English language and literacy skills, helping them achieve their GCSE qualification.
  • Monitor learner progress, provide constructive feedback and implement effective intervention strategies where required.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages participation and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams and colleagues to support learner success across the college.

Requirements

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS), or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have experience teaching GCSE English or Key Stage 4 English.
  • Be confident teaching learners with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Be committed to raising aspirations and improving outcomes for young people and adult learners.
  • Have a passion for supporting students to gain an essential life qualification.
