Behaviour Support Assistant - Full-Time - Ebbw Vale

Vision for Education Cardiff is actively recruiting a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD), including those from disadvantaged backgrounds, within a school setting in Ebbw Vale.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, often working on a 1:1 basis to provide tailored support, encourage positive behaviour and help them engage with their education. You will play an important role in providing consistency, guidance and a positive role model for pupils who may face challenges both inside and outside the classroom.

Due to the nature of the role, the school is looking for someone who is confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, can remain calm under pressure and has the ability to think on their feet. You will need to recognise potential triggers, de-escalate difficult situations and use positive behaviour management strategies to help pupils regulate their emotions and re-engage with learning.

A sporting background or an interest in sports would be advantageous. When a pupil becomes agitated, you may have the opportunity to use physical activity as a positive outlet, whether that involves kicking a football around for five minutes or encouraging participation in another preferred activity before returning to classroom learning.

Ideally, you will have previous experience working with primary or secondary-aged pupils in a school, alternative provision or similar setting. However, we also welcome applications from individuals with transferable skills, a genuine interest in behaviour support and a strong desire to make a difference in young people's lives.

A driving licence is preferred for this role, as pupils may take part in extracurricular activities off-site. An enhanced DBS check is also required.

In return, you will receive:

  • An excellent rate of pay between £462.80 and £542.80 per week, depending on experience.

  • Outstanding training and professional development opportunities, including Team Teach, safeguarding and other relevant courses.

  • Free on-site parking.

  • Auto-enrolment into the company pension scheme, subject to eligibility.

  • Holiday pay at 12.07%.

  • A full-time, long-term Behaviour Support Assistant position.

  • The opportunity to develop your skills and experience in behaviour management, pupil engagement and additional learning needs (ALN).

  • The satisfaction of knowing you are making a genuine, positive difference to pupils' education, confidence and future prospects.
