The Ascent Academies' Trust provides specialist education for children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Working within the Trust, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils' learning, development, independence and wellbeing.
The Role
As a SEND Supply Teacher, you'll work within specialist settings supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. Depending on the placement, you'll be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons, adapting learning to meet individual needs and creating a positive, supportive and inclusive classroom environment. You'll work closely with Teaching Assistants, support staff and other professionals to ensure pupils receive the individualised support they need to engage with learning and make progress.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND
- The ability to adapt teaching and communication to meet individual needs
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A patient, positive and resilient approach
- The flexibility to adapt to different specialist settings
- The ability to work effectively alongside Teaching Assistants and wider support teams
Previous SEND experience is desirable but not always essential. Teachers from mainstream backgrounds who have the right skills, approach and passion for working within specialist education are also encouraged to apply.
