Position: Literacy Academic Mentor

Smart Teachers are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated EAL Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive Alternative Provision in Ealing. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting students who speak English as an additional language and helping them thrive academically and socially.
The successful candidate will work closely with students across the school, providing targeted language support, helping pupils access the curriculum, and supporting their confidence in developing their English skills.
This role would suit an experienced EAL Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, bilingual educator, graduate, or someone with a strong interest in supporting young people from diverse backgrounds.
The Role:
- Supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) across the school
- Providing classroom support to help students access lessons and learning materials
- Working with teachers to adapt resources and encourage student progress
- Supporting students' communication, confidence and language development
- Building positive relationships with students and staff
- Providing small group and one-to-one interventions where required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience supporting students with EAL needs (essential)
- Strong communication skills and a patient, supportive approach
- Experience working within a school or educational setting
- The ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds
- A passion for education and supporting young people to succeed
- Additional language skills would be highly desirable
