Vision for Education is currently recruiting for a Learning Support Mentor to join a specialist further education SEN setting in Dudley. The school supports young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and provides a nurturing, person-centred environment where students are supported to develop their independence, confidence and life skills.
This is a full-time position starting immediately, with the potential to become an ongoing opportunity for the right candidate.
About the Role
- Supporting students with profound and multiple learning difficulties within a specialist further education setting.
- Working closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide high-quality, individualised support.
- Helping students develop their independence, communication, confidence and life skills.
- Providing a calm, patient and positive approach to support students with a range of additional needs.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with students and encouraging them to reach their full potential.
- Supporting students both within the classroom and across the wider school environment.
- Following individual support plans and adapting your approach to meet each student's needs.
- Full-time hours, with the potential for the role to continue on an ongoing basis for the right candidate.
Requirements
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly those with complex or profound learning needs.
- Ideally hold a relevant qualification such as Health & Social Care, Children & Young People's Workforce, Supporting Teaching and Learning, or similar.
- Have a patient, caring and supportive approach.
- Be confident working as part of a wider team alongside teachers and other support staff.
- Be committed to creating a calm, positive and inclusive environment for students.
- Be able to provide suitable references and complete the required DBS checks.
- Have a genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.
