Job Summary
Smart Teachers is seeking enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisors to work in a number of welcoming secondary schools across Croydon (CR2). This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced Cover Supervisors, youth workers, sports coaches or anyone with experience working with young people.
Due to the nature of day-to-day supply, our partner schools are particularly interested in candidates who live locally to CR2 and can arrive at school within 30-45 minutes when contacted for same-day bookings.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-set lessons, manage classroom behaviour and ensure students remain engaged with their learning while the class teacher is absent.

- Ensure students stay on task and complete the work set by the class teacher.

Schools offer regular work for reliable Cover Supervisors, with one of our partner schools also providing free on-site parking for staff.
Requirements
To be considered for the role of Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Have experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring or youth work setting.
- Be confident leading a classroom independently.
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills.
- Have an outgoing, professional and resilient approach.
- Hold a degree or have a subject specialism (desirable).
- Be able to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Be available for flexible work and ideally live within easy travelling distance of CR2 to accommodate same-day bookings.
Salary
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Experience working with secondary-aged students or young people.
- A degree or relevant transferable experience is desirable.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
