Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday, term-time only
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive and inclusive school in Chelmsford.
The successful candidate will provide personalised support to students with a range of special educational needs and additional needs, helping them access education, develop independence and build confidence.
This role would suit someone who is passionate about supporting young people and is comfortable working with students who may require additional support with learning, communication, behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEN
- Support students to access lessons and engage with their learning
- Assist students with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
- Provide positive and consistent behavioural support
- Help students develop independence, confidence and life skills
- Encourage positive relationships and appropriate social behaviour
- Follow individual education and support plans
- Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
- Support students who may display challenging or complex behaviours
- Create a safe, calm and inclusive environment
- Monitor students' progress and communicate relevant information to the wider team

Previous experience working within SEN, education, care, youth work, behavioural support or similar settings is desirable. However, candidates with transferable experience and the right attitude will also be considered.
Temp-to-Perm Opportunity
The position initially starts on a temporary basis, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.
The school operates a 12-week temp-to-perm route, giving both you and the school the opportunity to build a strong working relationship and make sure the placement is the right fit before moving into a permanent position.
