We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school in Cambridge. This role involves supporting a child with additional needs, providing consistent one-on-one assistance to help them access learning, build confidence, and thrive in a mainstream classroom environment.

About the role

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN (e.g., ASD, ADHD, or additional learning needs)
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the child's individual needs and support their educational and personal development
  • Assist with emotional regulation and implement positive behaviour strategies
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets
  • Encourage independence, engagement, and social interaction to foster a supportive learning environment

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach to supporting children with special educational needs
  • Experience supporting children with SEN, whether in a school, care, or similar background
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Calm, resilient, and adaptable personality, capable of handling the dynamic needs of the classroom
  • A genuine passion for making a significant impact in the lives of children with additional needs
