Turn Your Passion for Sport into a Rewarding Career in Education

Are you a Sports Coach, PE Graduate, Fitness Instructor or aspiring PE Teacher looking for your next opportunity?

Do you have the confidence to lead activities, motivate young people and build positive relationships?

Vision for Education is recruiting Sports Coaches to work across schools in Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to use their sporting background to make a difference in education. You could be delivering physical activities, supporting PE lessons, leading structured games or helping pupils develop teamwork, discipline and confidence.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can engage pupils who may struggle with traditional classroom learning and who can use their practical skills to encourage participation and positive behaviour.

The Role

As a Sports Coach working in education, you will support pupils through physical activity, structured sessions and practical learning.

Depending on the school and placement, your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting PE lessons and delivering sporting activities.
  • Leading warm-ups, drills, games and team-building exercises.
  • Encouraging teamwork, communication and sportsmanship.
  • Motivating pupils to participate and develop new skills.
  • Supporting pupils who need additional encouragement to engage.
  • Promoting positive behaviour, respect and clear boundaries.
  • Helping pupils build confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
  • Adapting activities to suit different ages, abilities and needs.
  • Working alongside teachers and support staff to achieve lesson objectives.
  • Maintaining a safe environment and following school safeguarding procedures.

Some placements may involve supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs or special educational needs and disabilities. The ability to remain calm, adaptable and encouraging is particularly valuable.

Who Would Suit This Role?

We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:

  • Sports coaching and sports development.
  • PE teaching or physical education degrees.
  • Football, rugby, basketball, athletics or other sports coaching.
  • Fitness instruction and personal training.
  • Outdoor education and activity leadership.
  • Youth work and mentoring.
  • Behaviour support and pastoral roles.
  • Graduate programmes and aspiring teacher pathways.

You do not necessarily need previous school experience. If you can lead a group, communicate clearly and motivate young people, your skills could transfer well into education.

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Energetic, enthusiastic and approachable.
  • Confident leading groups of children and young people.
  • Patient and resilient when managing challenging behaviour.
  • Able to establish clear expectations and boundaries.
  • Positive role models who encourage teamwork and respect.
  • Flexible and willing to work across different school settings.
