Vision for Education would be interested in speaking to qualified Sports Coaches who are looking to use their skills and experiences and transition into teaching or working in support roles in schools. These skills are perfect for our Cover Teacher role.

As a Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for leading lessons of approximately 30 pupils in the absence of the class teacher. You will cover classes across a full range of secondary school subjects, but don't worry, you are not expected to be a subject specialist in each area. The lesson will always be planned, and this will be provided in advance. It is your role as the Cover Teacher to facilitate the class's learning, manage classroom behaviour, record accurate registers, and provide a handover to the absent teacher.

Successful Cover Teachers are adaptable, flexible, motivated, confident, and organised; they have a passion for education and supporting young people. This role provides a great opportunity to gain experience of working within a Secondary school prior to applying to Initial Teacher Training. Although previous experience of working in a secondary school is desirable, it is not essential. If you are new to the role, you will be offered a comprehensive Cover Teacher Training Programme to equip you with the skills you need.

About the school: Vision for Education is working with client schools across the Kirklees area to support them with trained Cover Teachers who are looking to take their first step into education. Our client schools are looking for individuals who have a strong desire to get involved in the school ethos and make a difference in the classroom. If you are someone who is looking to make a difference and get started in your future in education, then this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Requirements:

  • Have experience coaching young people or a relevant sports degree
  • Have a willingness to learn
  • Be a natural leader and someone with the confidence to lead a lesson in the absence of the class teacher
  • Have a passion for education and providing the highest possible level of support to young people

What Vision for Education offer:

  • Excellent daily rates paid using the PAYE system (Daily rate is subject to your scale rate, experience in role and qualifications which will be discussed at the point of registration)
  • Social and networking events
  • Pension contributions
  • CPD to help with your professional development
  • Access to a dedicated consultant

If you are a Sports Coach who can enthuse, motivate, and engage students and would like the challenge of working in a demanding and rewarding environment, then we want to hear from you.
