Are you a recent graduate who is considering a long-term career in teaching? Are you a confident individual who would feel comfortable leading the class as an Unqualified Teacher?

The School and Role

We are working with a multi-academy trust school in Canvey Island who are seeking confident graduates work as Unqualified Teacher. This position is a long-term role, to start in September 2025 and will put you on a teacher training programme to get you on track to achieve QTS by 2026.

As an Unqualified Teacher, you will be responsible for leading lessons of approximately 30 pupils in the absence of the class teacher. Based on your subject specialism, you will be supporting students in the absence of the teacher. Unqualified Teachers will be responsible for teaching students at KS3 and KS4. Successful Unqualified Teachers are adaptable, hardworking, motivated, confident and organised, they have a passion for education and supporting young people.

This role provides a great opportunity to gain experience of working within a Secondary school prior to applying to Initial Teacher Training. Although previous experience of working in a Secondary School is desirable it is not essential. Unqualified Teachers at this school have been given additional support and training to help them become fully qualified teachers after 1 year of teaching. Seeking graduates with a subject specialism in History or Geography.

Requirements

The desired Unqualified Teacher will:

– Have obtained a bachelor’s degree from a UK university or equivalent education.

– Be a natural leader and someone with the confidence to lead a lesson in the absence of the class teacher.

– Be passionate about education and providing the highest possible level of support to young people.

– Have an ambition of becoming a qualified Teacher in 2025/2026.
