A welcoming and supportive primary school in Chigwell is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Reception.
This rewarding role involves supporting a pupil with high-needs autism who is non-verbal. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the child access learning, develop communication skills, and build positive relationships within the school environment.
The Role
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception-aged pupil with complex additional needs.
- Supporting the child's learning, communication and emotional regulation throughout the school day.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to implement personalised support strategies.
- Encouraging independence while supporting the child's individual needs.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex or high-needs SEN.
- Experience working with non-verbal children or using alternative communication strategies (desirable).
- Patience, resilience and adaptability, with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle, as driving is essential for this role.
- Have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
