We are seeking an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a dedicated SEN school in Stoke-By-Nayland. This is a rewarding opportunity to take on a more advanced support role, working closely with teaching staff to deliver high-quality learning experiences for pupils with Special Educational Needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
  • Lead whole-class sessions when required
  • Provide targeted support to pupils with a range of SEN, including ASD, SEMH, and complex learning needs
  • Support the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress
  • Mentor and support other support staff within the classroom
  • Promote positive behaviour and a safe, inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Previous experience working within an SEN setting
  • Strong understanding of SEN needs, including ASD and SEMH
  • Confident leading lessons and managing classroom behaviour
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
