11-18 school in Brentwood. £140-£150 per day PAYE (salary is depending on experience and/or qualifications). Easter 2025.

The School and Role

Are you a recently retired teacher or a teacher looking for a more flexible role to work around commitments? Our partnering Secondary school in Brentwood is seeking qualified teachers to work as Cover Teachers and Bank Staff. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on daily supply or in longer fixed term supply contracts.

As a Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for leading lessons of approximately 25 pupils in the absence of the class teacher. You will cover classes in your subject specialism or will be given pre-planned work in a range of various subjects. It is your role as the Cover Teacher to facilitate the class's learning, manage classroom behaviour, record accurate registers, and provide a handover to the absent teacher. Successful Cover Teachers are adaptable, flexible, motivated, confident, and organised; they have a passion for education and supporting young people.

Our partnership school is one of the top schools in Essex, with excellent behaviour and students who are eager to learn. This is a community-driven school in Braintree and has high expectations of staff and students to achieve excellent results in exams. Teachers must ideally have a full UK driver's licence and there is free on-site parking available for staff.

The desired Cover Teacher will have:

  • A degree or equivalent education and hold UK QTS.
  • Experience working with young people or a willingness to learn.
  • Leadership skills and confidence to lead a classroom of up to 30 students.
  • A passion for education and providing the highest possible level of support to young people.
