Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? We are seeking dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join a welcoming and supportive specialist school and college in Chelmsford, Essex.

About the Role

As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support children and young people with a range of complex learning needs. You will help create a positive and nurturing learning environment, assisting students both inside and outside the classroom to access the curriculum and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Support students with communication, sensory, behavioural and physical needs
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff to meet pupils\’ needs
  • Encourage independence and build students\’ confidence and social skills

About You

  • Experience of working with children or young adults with SEND is desirable but not essential
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and engage in professional development
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are an advantage but not essential
